§ 2-36. Chief operations officer.

  • The mayor shall appoint, with the advice and consent of the city council, a chief administrative officer to coordinate the operation of the departments and functions of the municipal government assigned in section 2-37. The title of this chief administrative officer shall be chief operations officer. The qualifications and experience for the position of chief operations officer shall be a person who has received a college or university degree from an accredited institution and who possesses at least four (4) years of experience in the operations or management of an organization, business or governmental entity. The chief operations officer shall coordinate the activities of the assigned departments and functions and shall be answerable to the mayor for the performance of these duties and shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor. The chief operations officer shall be subject to all provisions of Section 21-8-25 of the Mississippi Code of 1972. The Director of the Tupelo Regional Airport shall report to the chief operations officer for the purposes of operations and financial status and the management of the Tupelo Regional Airport staff.
