§ 27-22. Vehicle to be registered and numbered.

The owner of any motor vehicle operated for hire in the city shall, before causing the same to be operated, register the vehicle with the city clerk and on or before the first day of February of each year shall so register such vehicle in the name of the owner, giving the make, model, motor number and license tag number and the clerk shall keep such registration in a book for that purpose and give a number to each such vehicle so registered, which number the owner shall cause to be painted or stenciled on both sides and the rear of such vehicle. A fee of one dollar ($1.00) is hereby required to be paid for the registering and numbering of such motor vehicle registered under this section.
