§ 26-181. Definitions.

  • The following words and phrases, when used in this article shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:

    Detention means the holding of stormwater or rainwater on-site until existing drainage systems can accommodate the runoff.

    Retention means the slowing of stormwater or rainwater runoff from leaving the site so that output into existing drainage systems can be maintained at specified levels.

    Ten-year frequency rainstorm means a rainstorm with a ten (10) percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year.
