§ 17-54. Designation, marking of one-way streets.

  • Whenever any street, avenue or alley is designated for one (1) direction of traffic only, the police department shall place and maintain a sign or marker giving notice thereof and no such designation of any street, avenue of alley shall be effective unless such sign or marker has been so placed. Signs or markers indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be placed at every intersection where movement of traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited. The failure to obey any such sign shall be a violation of this Code.
